Six curated routes radiating from Calgary — each with its own character, landscape, and creative community. Find the route that fits your location and picture your space among them.
Wind south along one of Alberta's most scenic drives — rolling foothills, mountain views, and a quiet string of communities where painters, potters, and printmakers have set down roots. This route rewards slow travel and the curious eye.
The mountain corridor between Canmore and Lake Louise is one of Canada's most extraordinary arts destinations — world-class institutions alongside intimate studios, with a landscape that is the most powerful artwork on the route.
Highway 22 North rides through working ranch country, where the art is rooted in the land, the horse, and the sky. Painters, ceramicists, and weavers whose work is inseparable from the landscape that surrounds them.
Alberta's Badlands are among the most cinematically strange landscapes on earth — hoodoos, coulees, and the Red Deer River valley carving through deep time. Artists have been responding to this terrain for over a century.
The north side of Calgary holds some of the city's most surprising creative pockets — from Kensington's independent galleries and studios to the communities stretching toward the Nose Hill escarpment. Rich, walkable, and full of hidden gems.

Red Deer punches well above its size when it comes to arts — a thriving gallery scene, a nationally significant museum, and a community of working artists making it a compelling day trip or overnight stop on the way north.
Head east into wide-open prairie — through Strathmore and Brooks to Medicine Hat, where the city's natural gas heritage gave birth to a glassblowing and ceramics tradition that still thrives today. A route of unexpected depth and beauty.
Lethbridge has quietly built one of southern Alberta's most impressive arts scenes — an ambitious contemporary gallery, a decade of public art investment, the dramatic Oldman River coulee, and a Japanese garden of international significance.
The most dramatic end to any route in the guide — the Crowsnest Pass carries a deep mining heritage and a growing arts community, before the road drops into Waterton, where the prairie meets the Rockies in one of Canada's most breathtaking settings.
